Sally and James Morse from ‘Wongalee’ in Molong have beaten 95 competitors and been awarded overall Grand Champion of the 2018 Beef Spectacular Feedback Trial. Teams were scored across three categories – feedlot entry, feedlot performance and carcase. The Morse family have a pen of five steers that scored a total of 806.5 from a possible 1000. Their best-performing steer (Simmental-Angus) put on an average of 2.69 kg per day, going into the feedlot at 426 kg and emerging at 708 kg. Finishing as reserve champions were Sarah and Stephen Palmer, from the ‘Kyeamba Downs Partnership’ in Wagga Wagga – their pen of Angus steers scored a total of 731.5.
In terms of feedlot performance, the Morse family scored 330 from a possible 350 points. Reserve champions were Jacinda and James Douglas, from ‘Waverley Run’, Wagga Wagga, who scored 300 points.
In the carcase category, Lynette and Craig Turnbull from ‘Shepstone Park’, Bookham, scored the highest with 404 points out of a possible 500.
We’re also happy to announce that the Teys Certified Premium Black Angus Champion Pen was awarded to Sarah and Stephen Palmer, and the Riverine Classic Beef Champion Pen was awarded to the Rosedale Livestock Partnership.
