Are you looking for beef industry jobs? Keep your eyes peeled on our Facebook page – we will soon be looking for some full-time employees!
The official opening of our Murgon Hides Processing Plant expansion took place on the 13th of December. This expansion will provide the site with the capacity to increase production by 20%. Once the plant is operating at full capacity, we expect that the increased production will generate opportunities for 12 full-time roles in operations.
According to Teys Australia’s Group Environmental Manager, Amelia Simony, “The project is just another way that Teys continues to invest in Australian agribusiness.”
This expansion follows an increased focus on innovation and sustainability. Recently, we were recognised as the ‘best-in-class’ hide processing plant in Australia, thanks to our closed-loop water treatment system and significant waste reduction. We have also made a commitment to support sustainable beef processing by reducing carbon intensity by 20% and water intensity by 10% by 2023, and by achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.
“We are committed to taking on the role of a sustainable beef processing leader,” Simony says. “We will continue to improve our energy and water productivity, increase our renewable sources as a proportion of total energy use and create sustained value for our customers, external stakeholders, business partners and the wider community.”
