On Friday the 16th of March, beef producers are invited to a free field day near Cowra to discuss anything and everything beef. The event will be held at Jannet and John Leigh’s farm, ‘Nandewah’. At this event, Dr Paul Cusack from Australian Livestock Production Services will advise on setting cattle up to perform in a feedlot, Teys Australia will give an insight into markets and specifications and Jeff House of Jeff House Livestock Forbes will summarise feedlot trial results.
Mr Littler will give a live demonstration on livestock assessment (a skill that is particularly important in dry seasons like the region is currently facing), and a district veterinarian is set to give an update on current local health issues and flag anything producers should be looking out for.
According to Central Tablelands Local Land Services Senior Land Services Officer (Livestock) Brett Littler, “The focus is performance and compliance so a lot of the discussion will cover off on how to get the most out of your cattle.”
