On October 31st 2018, climate leaders in South Australia were celebrated at the 2018 Climate Leaders Award event hosted by the Hon. David Speirs (Minister for Environment and Water) and Premier’s Climate Change Council.
The SA Climate Leaders Awards recognise the achievements of individuals and organisations who take action to address climate change in South Australia. Entries for the 2018 awards were received from many different industries and sectors.
We are stoked to announce that Teys Australia, Naracoorte was recognised as a finalist in the Industry and Business Category for the Covered Anaerobic Lagoon (CAL) and Cogeneration project, which is currently under construction.
This is a project to generate and capture biogas as a by-product of meat processing wastewater treatment at the site. As a first for the Company, the biogas will then fuel cogeneration equipment. This development will result in a clean, renewable energy source that will produce electricity and heat for use at our own facility. The project has many benefits for Teys, consumers and the local community, including reducing energy costs and carbon emissions, reducing dependence on the electricity grid and peak demand usage, increasing site energy security, and reducing waste and operating costs.
Congratulations and well done to the Teys Naracoorte team, NA5 Project team and all those who support them – what a fantastic achievement!
